Free Inquiry #3- ID Booklet Inspiration

Before I begin creating my ID booklet I wanted to find some inspiration for how I want it to look and I found these images off of Pinterest and created this moodboard.
Elements of The ID Booklet
- Large images of plants and animals
- Collage style imagery
- Natural colours
- Handwritten elements
- I want the English names, the scientific name (genus and species) and SENĆOŦEN names (if found)
- Time of year they are in bloom or migration patterns
- Uses and medicinal properties
Design
When creating this booklet I want it to be educational while also being aesthetically beautiful. I really want to focus on the creative design of the booklet, using collage style imagery and the use of empty space as an element. I will create these collages through taking photos from Pexels and using the background remover on Canva to isolate the plant or animal. My dream would be to add handwritten text to give the book a more personal feel.
Plant and Animal Information
The information I want in my booklet are the common names of the plants and animals as well as their scientific names. I will identify the plants and animals using the app Seek by iNaturalist and use the names provided. I also want to include the SENĆOŦEN names when I can find them because I think it is important for that information to be easily accessible, and I want to honour the Indigenous language that is local to my area. There is a website https://sencoten.org/ that has a SENĆOŦEN dictionary, but since the language is being revitalized, there is a potential that I will not be able to find all the plant or animals names in SENĆOŦEN. I would also like to include information on when the plants are in season or if they are ever evergreens or the animals migration and mating patterns. Finally I want to add the uses of the plants and if they have medicinal properties.
Next Step
My next step is to start my research on local plant and animal species and narrow down the species I want to include in my booklet. I am aiming to have 5 plants, 5 flowers, 5 birds, 5 land animals and 5 water animals.
